(Well kinda, i still have the coupe dont worry), got offered a 1991 vw polo gt for £100, thought it would be rude not to have it :D

So far ive put on:
(all genuine vw parts apart from the chip, perks of the job :b )
new head gasket set
new distributor
new leads and plugs
good service
performance chip which adds 7-8bhp and raises rev limit from 6.5k to 7.2k
de-cat pipe(a vw genuine part)

and plans are:
drop it 60mm
get some 14" bbs ra wheels
strut braces front and rear
full stainless system
new boot and fuel flap as both are rusting and boot has a dent in it
strip it out

Its basically just a weekend b-road blaster and probably take it on a few track days
Pictures will be added tomorrow once i get the tax and bring it home

Daz, don't listen to them mate. ;)

These little cars are great fun and can look very sweet if done up properly. The VDUB scene is huge with loads of these retro rides done up really well. I think going down the route of BBS RA's is a great shout as long as they are polished up. If you could source a G40 Polo and strip the part including the engine, you will end up with a little pocket rocket that will more than scare off bigger and more modern cars.

Right then, picture time!

im having great fun with this little beast, mainly watching the smiles get wiped off saxo and corsa drivers faces as they laugh at you in a H reg polo, then you leave them standing at lights or when driving dropping a few cogs and flooring it, the look on their faces is worth every penny i have spent so far
*note: im not bothered about the reg being seen, its a little toy not my main car and i can prove its whereabouts at any given time if need be*

When it rolled out of wolfsburg it had a 1272cc MPI(so 1.3) making 75bhp which wasnt, and still isnt, bad in a car weighing 750kg fully loaded with fuel.

With the chip and de-cat i have fitted, it was rolling roaded at 86bhp on sunday morning. so not bad going so far, the chip is proven to add between 6-8bhp depending on engine health and the de-cat adds upto 5 aswell. Im hoping with the cams and rest of the exhaust done to be in the mid 90's maybe even a 100 one day!

that looks in awesome condition for h reg costing £100. id have gone for that anyday. bet it costs pennies to run and insure to. id go for the euro style drop it on the ground, small wide alloys smiple clean smooth styling, strip the inside out. that will make a real good track/b road toy. you'll be able to get a real good power to weight ratio out of that every easily.
