Hmm, not sure I'd choose one over my Gen.1 but I do agree mate, I'd have another Capri tomorrow (I've owned 3 including a rebored 3.1l based on a Mk3 3.0 Ghia). I would even be so bold as to suggest that it was up there with cars such as the E-Type Jags for it's unique good looks ...............

Voted yes - stupid pointless poll. Any petrolhead worthy of the name knows they are sex on wheels, non-belivers should be covered in petrol and flamed ;)

My dad had a few (1.6 MkI and a 2.3??? Mk2) - My brother had a late '80's model, retrofitted with a 3.1L American spec v6. Proper animal, that one

capris are the dogs knackers,i prefer the pinto engines to the v6s though,u just cant beat a 2.1 litre pinto with twin 40s and a fast cam,old fords are the best, ive actually got a capri shell in my mates garage its a 1.6 laser, ive also got a mk1 ford fiesta in my own garage, ongoing projects a long way from completion.

cos they were very outdated at the end-ford let it die when it could have done so much more.even the last E reg 2.8i's were 5 years outdated inside

the later models arent ugly but neither are the pretty like the coupe. i do like classic cars and retro fords are top of my list. however if was to have a capri it would have to be mk1 3.0 v6, they look awesome.

Agree with Paul on the mk1

Loved them as a kid, but not as much as my Dad's Reliant Scimitar GTE...he had two, a mk3 and then the mk4 I think....had the 3litre Ford V6 engines in them, but in a fibreglass body, they were rapid and a great looking car!

Hah, my eyesight aint that bad, Bob - despite recently turning 35 :rollin

Opel Manta GTE's rock, not many about these days though... My other brother had a 2.0, cool car - even though it had the big black plastic window louvre cover thingy... Kinda looked the part. I belive the phrase is "of it's time..." :lol

One of the all-time great cars without a shadow of a doubt. Complete minger when it comes to handling but it looked the badgers nadgers and I always wanted one as a kid - 3.2l MKI (I always imagined a 3l rebored ) in a metallic British Racing Green with gold pin stripes and mega wide alloy wheels (most cars rode on steelies when I was nobbut a lad ).

My brother-in-law is a panel and paint man and we're going to restore his 2.8 v6 back to former health - can't wait!

yeah there are, but its fairly straight forward as far as engine swaps go to get a 2.9 cosworth injection from a mondaeo or scorpion to fit almost straight in. bit of nice air take zorst and chippage should see close to 250bhp then and modern engine reliability.

you can also fit cossie engines in them, there was one in classic ford magazine a few months back that could do 180 mph,im going for a 2 litre zetec in mine and also my mk1 fiesta.
