i turned 20 yrs old 4 months ago. got a 2.0 SE 1997, 3 years no claims and mines about £440 fully comp, dad as named driver. even tho he never drives it and lives 3 hours away . £250 excess

Don't pay it cos my car is a Motability Car!!!!

All my Tax, Insurance, Servicing, MOT, Tires, Windscreen Replacement are paid for all I pay for is fuel!!! It's a hard life for me I tell ya!!!

hi all, mines £175 fully comp on 97 2.0se with post office.

i change insurer every year as premiums go up if you stick with same insurer.

But mine has no mods................yet..........still blank canvas........

i'm 25 have 5 points for speeding on motorway and 4 years no claims. I pay just over 6ton fully comp on an f2 evolution.

Mine's due for renewal on the 11th Jan and existing insurer (Fortis) wanted £450 fully comp, with legal and courtesy car, and £200 excess. Protected ncb would be extra as have had 2 x claims within last 24 months to December 07 (one fault me driving, one non-fault with hubby driving) so they'd knocked the pnc off as 1st claim had not quite expired when quote prepared pre-Christmas.

Sooooo shopped around and have just agreed identical cover today other than with £250 voluntary excess and 9 yrs pnc through Equity Red Star for £300 exactly. I'm well chuffed.

I've read the various responses to the question of Insurance costs but to be honest, it's not very helpful as no direct comparisons can be made.
The biggest variations in premiums are down to your postcode. If the bloke down the street has reported a theft from his car then your insurance is blighted. The more car crime in your postcode area then the very much higher your premiums will be.
Added to this is age of car, age of driver, value of car, engine size etc. etc. etc.
Just make sure you shop around each renewal date and beware of high excesses, otherwise whats the point in insurance if you have to pay the first £500.
I'm happy I've got the lowest quote available for my area and I'm green with envy of those who live in good postcode area's, but my area is Teesside which has held, at various times, the title of "car crime capital" which I think is currently held by Manchester. So, I think my quote was pretty good. (see previous post above).

i pay 1350(euro bout 1k sterling) fully comp.im 20 wit a 04 gen3 1.6. using tesco car insurance but they are terrible.would NOT use again.one direct ill be back next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can not believe the silly money Insurance companies charge. I do shop around a fair bit but managed to get my premium down to £142 fully comp on a 2.7 V 6 SIII. with max no claims and clean licence for a 43yrs old male driver with SWIFT Cover. I went via quidco and should get £45 back.

My wife [Aged 52 so she tells me] has just been insured for a 1999 Coupe SE, 2 litre.
Although she's had some unlucky prangs [2] in recent years, her No Claims was protected at 5 years.

So fully comp, zero voluntary excess [£100 compulsory excess], courtesy car and continued protected NCD, we opted for £235 with Norwich Union through Swintons.

There was some haggling and website re-vists to be done, which saved on the premium and reduced potential future charges. Swintons wanted to charge £20 per policy change and £35 on cancellation, but investigation found that Norwich Union would charge £10 for these items.

Curiously, some companies' premiums suddenly jumped up when we added a third 'claim' even though this third claim was 'no fault' and settled in full by the other party. Which seems a little unfair.
