what do you pay for insurance?

Hey all,

just signed up to the HCS, been having a browse! As you do...

And im about to buy my Coupe, 1.6. Only 18 so insurance would of been a problem.

Anyway the insurance im about to buy for it is through KwikFit, and Zurich being the payout going to cost me Â£940, live in south Bristol and got 2 crash's on there aswell (ONLY 1 WAS MY FAULT!), with 1 year driving experience.

KwikFit is the way for us young-uns!

i just got my renewel through and after a bit of argueing got it at Â£360 fully comp curtoesy car legal cover i'm 24 full time student and self employed designer with business use on mods declared and 5 years no claims with a 250 excess and i park on the street cool :mrgreen:

900 fully comp. 1.6 no years no claims, 3 points, 21,parked on a street. Very high excese, used for work aswell though and avarage milage is roughly 12k

22 got a gen3 v6.
Been driving for 5 years, no bumps claims etc.
Just moved onto my own insurance having clocked up 3 years named driver no claims with directline.
I pay Â£910 fully comp which is a steal!

Only problem is they wont allow any modifications AT ALL til im 25 (didnt know this til now!)meaning the wheels i have bought void my insurance, plus my aerial, de-ambered lights and soon to be put on... CAI!!!

Need to change insurance company asap really. Any suggestions?

Well its that time of year for me

Last year my insurance cost me Â£1084 fully comp with liverpool victoria Â£500 excess First car first year of driving.

Now i had a smash in november against me which wrote off my car (1.6 gen1) lv paid out Â£3500 in total including Â£1500 to me for my car.

I replaced my car and carried on the policy but this time with a 2ltr gen1 f2 (Â£27 extra to change over the policy and the better car)

Now the cheapest quote i have found is Â£702 with elephant.co.uk Â£500 excess i have yet to try sky or adrian flux but i don't hold much hope for them beating this

I am 26 by the way.

Just renewed mine again through Sky Insurance

Â£370 fully comp protected all in and all mods totally covered.

2004 Gen2 2.0, no mods (except radio + speakers), 35 yrs old, GU postcode, no convictions, 2 glass claims last November (MOT failure - new windscreen; then scum in Reading broke in through passenger window), girlfriend as 2nd driver, max (9yrs+) NCD (protected), private car park.

Zurich renewal just came in at Â£491 fully comp; entering same details online as a new quote comes out at Â£407 - this seems to happen every year! Zero voluntary excess (Â£100 compulsory), courtesy car, legal cover, business use (not just commuting) etc. (the full monty) on both quotes.

Hunted around a bit but can't find any significant savings without increasing the excess or losing features. Zurich have been pretty good to deal with (made buying the car easy - gave me free 2-week cover for the old car while I sold it). Provided I can get it for Â£407 (never failed before - they winge a bit tho) think I'll stick.

Significant point - don't trust your renewal letter. Generating an identical quote from scratch online can often drop the cost without needing to change insurer. Make sure you save the quote before you phone up to haggle.

btw im 19 with 2 years NCB got pass plus

phoned norwich union, told them it was blue and did that make any difference, then they quoted me happy
