i took out insurance with swiftcover on saturday evening via their online form. but im not worried i wont be covered if/when i come to modding my car.
im going to phone them tommorow to see what they say although i very much doubt theyll cover me.

question is though, will i get a full refund? (im paying monthly so had to make 1st payment when took out policy)

or will i lose the payment i have already made? considering its only been - or would have been - a day or two

You may find your locked into a 12 month loan agreement so rather than get a refund you'll owe them the full ammount.

there is normally a 7/10/14 day opt-out period which you can cancel the policy in with minimal loss to yourself. i think they charge a small 'admin' fee which is taken out of your deposit, you 'should' recieve the rest back.

:yeahthat

There's always a 'cooling off' period...probably 15 days, during which you can cancel the policy, to allow you to read the documentation & smallprint before signing it. As said above, there may be a small admin charge.

I used to be with Swiftcover...they're always the cheapest for me, but I moved to Sky, as Swiftcover will NOT cover any mods at all!

yeh i read some posts on here which said they dont cover mods, which has got me worried as i have big plans (as im sure 99% of people on here do) for my coupe l.

checked there website and says can cancel within 14 days and pay £25 admin fee. but weren't sure id get my deposit back or not. cheers for helping guys :)

just gotta find someone to insure me now. adrian flux said ridiculous amount to insure me, because its not modded even though i intend to mod it. not happy

ill try sky tommorow. and try adrian flux again n convince them somehow lol

just to keep you updated:

phoned around a few copmpanied today and got the following:-

Greenflag WOULD insure me. but they said would have to use credit loan for the payments, and would be £250 first payment and then silly payments thereafter (i need to pay monthly) - so thats a no go

Sky WOULD insure me, but only TPFT due to vehicle value being under £2000, but when i modify it enough to have value over £2000 then i could change policy to fully comp. This is no good to me as i want fully comp from the go. plus they stil wanted £1200 just for TPFT which is absurd

Adrian Flux WOULD insure me, and it would end up costong me in the region of £930 pa paying monthly. but as you all know they are very modification friendly which is a bonus for me

Swift Cover who i am insured with at the moment as of yesterday said i CAN cancel my policy within 14 days and incur a £25 fee (which i expected), plus they take a bit off for the days over i have already had (again to be expected). I also figured id ask about mods to hear them laugh at me, and they did just that more less. wouldnt cover for ANY mods such as induction kits etc. but i am only paying £604 pa with them

so heres my quandry. Do i bite the bullet and pay an extra £300pa BUT get the freedom to mod away to my heartsa content. or do i stick with cheaper insurance but have a stock car (boooooo).

im seriously tempted by the first option - go with adrian flux. luckily got just under 2 weeks to decide, gonna be some hard thinking lol

Insurance is a very personal thing, like car ownership. If you want to modify it and you won't be happy unless you do, it looks like you need to go with Flux.

I'm with them myself, largely because I'm an old-fashioned sort of chap who'd rather deal with someone face-to-face and they are about a half-hour drive from me. However, very mod friendly and a pleasure to deal with - never had to make a claim with them but if I did I'm confidant all would be fine...

All the best...

They are a broker at the end of the day, but as a modified motor specialist they have access to insurers that are generally pretty damned accommodating.

I've had 3 modded cars with them, the Coupe been the most played with - and the increase's for the mods were pretty reasonable. Modified insurers tend to recognise that the car is cherished and not likely to end it's days being wrapped around the nearest tree/crash barrier/bus stop etc...
