I believe you have a statutory defence that as it is a company vehicle, you genuinely believed you were covered, and indeed they told you that you were. The company can be prosecuted for permitting.

Obviously if you now know that you aren't covered on the van, you must not drive it.

Head over to this forum and put the question there. There are a lot of police, insurance guys, magistrates etc. on there and they can give you proper advice.
