Help, running a 51 reg gen 2 coupe, alarm / imobiliser is a toad ai606. seem to be having a problem with using the remote keyfob to actualy arm the central locking, once armed the key fob will dissarm the alarm and operate the central locking open, its just the initial locking that it is failing to do.

anyone any ideas on what I can try to rectify the problem ?? when I use the key to lock the doors the central locking will work okay, when I press the keyfob I can hear the door locking mechanism trying to lock the doors but something is wrong somewhere.

feel sure the problem is within the locking systm itesf rather than anything to do with the actual toad alarm / imobiliser but any suggestions on what I could try to find the cause would be most welcome !!

having read the alarm instruction manual there appears to be no setting that I have possibly entered within the alarms remote that would cause this to happen.

cheers,
john

Given you can hear the alarm 'attempting' to lock the car it sounds like the motor/actuator require readjusting - this is very common on aftermarket alarm fits lesser so on the standard locking equipment. Remove the drivers side doorcard and you'll soon see what's happening (and what should be happening!) when you blip the alarm fob.

I have the same alarm on my Gen1 fitted by toad, did the person that did your alarm replace the motors? After speaking with the guy about my alarm when he fit it he said that the alarm system could not mimic the original motor to make it shut so he had to replace it.

Speak to toad about this problem if they installed it then they should be able to rectify it.

It is rare for the motor to be actually replaced; far more usual to either add a motor (where one doesn't already exist - very common in driver-side doors) or to add an actuator that pushes/pulls the same mechanism that the keylock does.

Replacing motors would be an expensive solution as there is no standard for CL motors (hence why OEM replacements are usually the only option for repairs).

Sorry my mistake (still hungover) it was the actuator that was replaced in mine.

Matts got it spot on, just remove the card and then try to remote lock it, if it works then its just the door card pushing on the rods.
