Hi guys, can anybody help me out with these questions, Ive searched other posts regarding keys/key fobs and had no joy.
Bought my first Coupe a few months back which is a silver 1.6 53 Reg.
Although I love the car to bits, does any body else find it annoying that you need the key fob and key to get into the car and start the engine without the alarm going off?
And why does the coupe only come with 2 keys and only one key fob?
I need to get fixed up with a second key and fob so the missus has a set she can use rather than nicking my keys.
I only have the one key and key fob, the previous owner was supposed to send me the second key when they found it, Im still waiting....
Can anyone tell me how much it costs to get a new key cut?
And secondly, I purchased a second hand key fob from ebay, but need to find the cheapest way to get it programmed to the car.
Unfortunatly, its not as simple as the scorpion alarm system. From what I have read, unless im mistaken, it needs be done using a certain type of OBD2 scanner called a high scan, which allows you to select a programming option to sync the new fob with the car.
Has anybody living in or near Stoke On Trent got the equipment to do this, or can this only be done by my local dealer?
If the fobs can only be programmed by a dealer, its going to be expensive when the battery runs out in the key fob. sounds like a bit of a scam to me.
Starting to get abit worried about what will happen if I accidently lock the key and fob in the boot or the key fob fails when im touring round scotland next month
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
