hi all ,i require some help regarding my legal rights.
i bought an f2 evo with a non functioning cobra alarm and needed a replacement . i found a company to supply me and they gave me the contact details of a registered local fitter that they use, these alarms are only thatcham approved if fitted by a registered installer.
three weeks after the alarm was fitted i went to unlock the car and nothing happened, fob did nothing and the car would not turn over ,the overide key did nothing and the led overide also did nothing.
i rang the fitter and he ran me through all the tests and concluded that either there was a power failure or the alarm was faulty, luckily i have many years experience with vehicle electrics and he was able to tell me how to trace and un immobilise the car.
i checked the constant power feed, switched power and the earth connections and they are all fine so it means the fault is the alarm.
i paid the supplier and i paid the installer but who is responsible for the warranty replacement and fitting, the supplier says send it back and we will send it to cobra but the immobiliser unit is hidden and all the wires are black.
whose responsibility is it to remove the faulty unit and replace it,surely it is not right for me to pay for the removal and refit?
anyone with any legal knoledge would be greately appreciateded.
ps,sorry if i have posted in the wrong area.
thanks andy, out of pocket and no car security[/i]
