Gen1 Front speakers and Dial Question

Hey lads and lasses i have 2 questions to ask quickly.

1. The front speakers, i have read everywhere that they are 17cm speakers, but when i tried to install 17cm speakers last time i ended up forcing the screws into plastic to make holes. Was i just unlucky or is this how it is done?

2. The dials in my F2 Evo light up orange when the lights are on, is it orange because the bulbs are orange or because the dial kit itself has orange plastic on the back of it? As i would love to swap the bulbs for blue ones.

Have a look you can see where I made a hardboard 'donut', I cut it out to fit the screw holes on the car, then fitted the speaker into the donut. Think the wood cost about 40p.

The F2 Evo dials are cream, but the markings are see-through. The only thing I would say about blue bulbs is that the red markings don't show up
