Hi

Sometimes when I have activated my alarm (single beep and single indicator flash), I can walk away from the car and the alarm starts to beep every couple of seconds for up to about 5 or 6 beeps and then eventually the alarm will go off !

If I disarm and re-arm the alarm it will eventually give just one or two of these additional beeps and then stay quiet.

Any ideas what causes this or what the beeps mean ?

I dont know for definite, but I think that if the alarm has been tripped whilst you have been away from the car you can detect this by the light flashes from the LED or from the sound of the beeps (I wasnt sure if this is what the alarm is trying to tell me ?). Consequently I wonder whether you have to clear / reset the alarm ?

Any advice appreciated...I think the alarm is the standard fit and my car is a 2004 2.6 v6 Coupe

Cheers

Brett

sounds like a sensor is tripping, so the car thinks the door/boot/bonnet is open when you arm it and it's warning you of this, this if often caused by a faulty sensor.

When you say a sensor, do you mean the tiny gizmos in the top corners of the wind screen (by the sun visors)

Can you buy new ones ?

Cheers

they are ultasonic sensors, there are different sensors in the doors, boot and bonnet,

the bonnet pin is probably the most likley as it's open to the elements more than the others

I dont know the make, it was fitted to the car when I bought it (second hand)

There is no writing on the key fob and nothing on the siren

How can you tell the make ?
