need to know how to get the radio cage out of the centre console, got the steroe out (clarion one) but the case appears to be bolted into place so i need to get the brushed aluminium front off somehow to get to the bolts, anyone know??

i've got an alpine screen here waiting to go in and i want it in NOW!!!!

Guys you need to take the whole surround off...

Its pretty easy... just get a knive/something behind the back of it and pull it... its comes off with a good pull... dont be scared to pull it hard. It needs it.... i actaully use a bottle opener when i need to take it off

One like this... get the end behind it and pull. just be carful not to scratch.



Once thats off just undo the bolts. Jamming!

I use the bolts as a ground for the dvd player to work without the handbrake on

simply open the ash tray get your fingers underneath the aluminium surround and pull....job done, well the easy bit anyway...

mountincat, dont know what model you have but mine has the torque gauges etc, anyway once the console is out after unplugging all the electrical connections unbolt the bracket that holds the gauges and stereo in, now this is the fun bit, the clarion cage is spot welded to the bracket and cannot be removed that easily, all i did was get a grinder and cut the top of the cage off and split the bottom in two (giving you 2 separate pieces), i then bolted it back into the centre console and the extra movement allowed me to fit the alpine case inside whats left of the clarion one!!

seems heavy handed but it works fine, the only thing is when the screen comes out you cannot see the gauges, bug*er, i will get some pics when i figure out how to resize them for this forum, i have also fitted a sat nav unit under the seat, dvd player under the other seat and cd changer in the boot, all that is left to do is get the rear screen fitted into the headrest.

the alpine i have fitted has a standard iso block so just went straight in

as for the cage if you have the tools (grinder/ or good saw) now you have the knowlage it will take about half an hour to do i recon

another alternitive is to try and get the brackets (that the cage is welded to) from the hyundai dealer and attach your cage to that maybe?
