Hey guys, ive brought a set of 16cm speakers to go in the front, but the plastic covers for the speakers is prooving hell to remove! The plastic is so flumbsy that if i try to prise it off with a screwdriver it either just bends or makes dents in the plastic. Ive already totally screwed up my front left plastic and need to get a new one.

How do you remove the cover?!?!?! Pictures would be cool

From memory when I owned my gen1 it was a door off jobbie. Five or six screws holding the door on.

Its been two years since ive had my gen 1, but im sure that some on the board will be able to advise further.

hi there,
as per previous post it is a door panel off job i'm afraid, but have no fear it is a very easy job, you need to find the following screws : 2 at either end of the panel, two in the door handle, remove the covers first to gain access and then one in the door opening handle, so 7 screws in total, when you have these off you need to prise the bottom of the panel gently and you should feel a few poppers come loose, then pull gently around the remaining bottom and sides of the panel and then you should be able to left the panel up away from the window. Note do not lift to high, the window buttons will still be connected to there wiring loom, once the panel is off then simply disconnect the loom and the panel is removed completely, sounds allot but really simple, only takes a couple of min's to remove.

Thats a bit more of a job than i anticipated but it ties in well with every single other thing i thought was simple to do in the coupe i guess...........

BTW did anyone seem to forget to warn me that 16cm speakers dont fit? Ive just had to send a pair of 16's back because they are too small for the doors..........
