just got a new alpine monitor h/u, sat nav, dvd player, changer for my new coupe, does anyone know if it is possible to take out the gauges (they appear to be in 1 block) as i need the space to fit a dvd player, in was thinking of putting the gauges in pods on the pillar or in a fabricated pod on the top of the dash with a shift light built in, if it wont come out i will put the dvd under the seat with the sat nav and the changer in what is left of the boot (lpg gas tank in there!!)

any advice would be great

hi....

i dont think you would be able to move the gaugees due to its unique wiring plug. they are part of the wiring loom and there aint much wiring length to retain the original gauges. you could possibly obtain after market gauges from the likes of demon tweeks etc. but i don't know were you would stand warranty wise, dealer's can be a bit funny when it comes to mods.

i assume you are intending to fit a dvd player with integral screen ??
may be better to get a seperate unit and screen and like you anticipate.... bolt the unit under the seat or in the remainder of the boot.

personally..... i like the gauges where they are.

good luck with it anyway matey.

neil.

i've got an alpine 1014 flip out screen h/u with a separate single din dvd player which i was hoping to get in the dash, but i will probably put under the seat now, it will also have an alpine dvd sat nav and 6 disc changer to put somewhere as well, then a freeview box too!!

i dont want to be putting aftermarket gauges in to be honest and i was hoping the loom was long enough to be able to move it, i may move it below the steroe if possible coz when the screen is on it will obscure them anyway, d'oh!!

Just take 'em out. Apart from the voltmeter, they are just nonsense.

be a good system when you get it installed....

you could swap the gauges round, move them to below the ice unit, that way they wouldn't be obscured.

now then jimmy...... dont be telling him things like that...ha ha ha, i think he still wants the gauges there mate.

im gonna move them down under the head unit, was thinking of removing them but they look good but as you said they are useless really

i will put the dvd under the seat i recon, it is a pretty good system, pretty much identical to the one we have in our citroen c2 but that has rockford fosgate sub and amps, cant get anything in the coupe coz of the lpg tank!!
