I have a gen2 with the standard Sony stereo and want to replace it with another Sony mp3 stereo. Having a look at it, I realised I have no idea what I'm doing. How do I get the old one out, do I need a special tool or something? I chose a Sony replacement as I assume all the connectors are the same?

Any ideas?

I had a look at My CD player in my car, and saw that there is no cage. The head unit is actually bolted to the dash frame, and i had to remove the plastic dash section to get to it.

pull up the gear stick surround, only held in by clips but still be gentleish. Then pull the stereo/ashtray surround off, again only held in by clips. Unplug the lighter and now you have half the dash off. You should then see the 2 screws either side of the stereo for removal.
