Ok, so ive have a m8's dad who does upholstering and has finally given into me to recover my seats (for a very reduced price ).
Now, the seats have srs airbags in them, if i get my seats recovered what happens to those airbags, how do they get deployed if there's new leather over the top of them as i have no idea what the underside of the logo where the airbag is looks, or functions once it needs to be deployed.
Anybody have any ideas?

afaik the airbag unit is mounted in the seat on the side near the logo. The way it works is that the stitching on the seam on that side is intentionally weak near the airbag so the seat cover can split along the seam when it deploys. So long as the seam is restitched with this in mind then it should be ok

ahh ok, i thought it might be something like that. I considered asking the guy to cut out that square around the airbag and stitch it back on, but with the differences of leather quality it would look rather odd.
Ill just have to tell the recoverer to use thin stitching for that square.
