I've noticed a few times when reversing away from facing a wall in the mornings that my lights dim a little when putting the engine under strain (for example letting up the clutch without any revs to gently move back) It's not enough to cause any concern, but it's the little things like this that niggle at me

My battery seems ok, so I'm guessing this could be down to poor grounding in the engine bay? Or is it just another "one of those things" that can't really be solved?

I used to get the occasional drain like that, ive got a type mr voltage stabilizer now and ive no problems at all.

It'll be a consequence of the situation at idle - the alternator is barely putting out any juice so when you start to move off you're putting a greater strain on the system and relying more on the battery for powering the electrics. The battery voltage is somewhat less than the alternator hence the dimming. Furthermore, without any throttle the revs will drop as the clutch closes thus lowering the alternator output even more.

Some Coupes will respond better than others to the grounding wires mod. Won't do any harm tho, so theres a guide in the DIY section if you're interested

It's for a different gen, IIRC, but the theory is the same...
