Does anyone know how to tell if the alarm is working / if it has been disconnected?

Can't test it with the remote fob as they need reprogramming to the thing. Only niggle on my car so far.

Another question, does the remote locking rely on the alarm to be working or are they on seperate units? My central locking/immobilizer is working fine with the keys.

Use the fob to lock the car, then open the door with the key, if the alarm goes off then its on :thumbup

Ah hmm.. No i don't think so, you would need to use the remote to arm the alarm else if you just use the key to operate the central locking then that's all its doing. The immobilizer still works though, the car wouldn't start otherwise.

hmmm, looks like I'm gonna have to hope that it is just my keys that need programming and the system isn't fubar then.

hmm i s mine a scorpian if the fob is a long rectangle with round off edges. 2 black buttons 1 of which is slightly bigger.

Hopefully it just needs coding to the car, it used to work before bcm was repaired when it on floorcourt. i'm hoping they've just missed a connection for it. but looking for where the connection is to it on hyundai's service manuals is useless.

Yep that's the one.

You might be able to reprogram it yourself if its just needs doing.

walk at least 20meters from your car, take out the battery and press the buttons a few times to clear the power out.

Walk back to the passenger side of the car, put the battery in and press the big button at least 4 times at 1 second intervals (don't touch the small one).

With any luck you will have the car lock and unlock itself.

possibly, but it was working fine before the bcn went to get repaired. just hasn't worked since they reconnected the bcm. that's where i was wondering if it's just a connector on the back or something.
