I have just been reading the "General Information - GI.pdf" document under the workshop guide and on the top left of page 15 it says

"The oxygen sensor is a device which helps control the fuel mixture. If the oxygen sensor is damaged the exhaust-gas cleaning efficiency as well as driveability deteriorates. Therefore it should be replace periodically with a new one"

I am not sure how often "Periodically" is, but from the tiny little picture included on the same page I cant determine where this gizmo is ! It looks as though it is near to the dipstick.

So...
1) Where is it ?
2) Has anybody ever changed one of these ?
3) Does it make a difference ?
4) How much do they cost approximately

hi, on my car which is a 1.6s gen3 im sure it has 2, 1 is located on the exhaust outlet manifold at the front of the engine, the other one is further along the exhaust underneath and you can see it if you look down the back of the engine, they look like spark plug leads going into your exhaust i had to find mine the other month when i got a error code come up, fortunately the connection had worked its way loose so nothing major.

O2/Lambda sensors vary in price, you are generally looking between £35 and £70 though depending where you get it from.

Pretty easy change to be honest, disconnect one, remove it, install new one, connect it. I have done this twice already on mine and its an easy enough job to be doing.

As for results, unless the sensor is knackered or you are fuelling really really badly then it wont make a whole load of difference to be completely honest, but i might be wrong
