The cable on my drivers-side electric window has frayed and a call around the larger breakers tells me that this is a common problem since as soon as they get a unit in stock - it's gone before they can tag it and bag it.

I've finally found a second-hand unit, has anyone done this job? Any pitfalls or useful advice?

cheers :)

I think you can get replacement cables off ebay. I know you don't need it now, but might be something to bear in mind for the future

Yup, got one of those! My plan is to try that on the failed unit once I get it swapped out.

I'll report back on how that went, it's a LOT cheaper than replacing the failed unit.
