Im after a bit of help here.

Spent a day fitting the wires into my car for my new sub (managed to do the power cable quite easily... :bang ). However it doesnt work.

What i have is a fli 12" sub and HU is Ripspeed dv710 (i know tacky lol). My problem is i have a red and black RCA lead from the sub but i dont know where i need to plug into on the HU. The only one that makes sense to plug to is the brown subwoofer lead, but there is only one!?

Any help please.... :bow :bow :bow

you should have an 'sub out' on the back of the head unit, plug the phono lead from te sub into that

Your headunit might not have a "pre-out". Its the red and white plugs.
You'll also have to run a remote wire from the headunit to the amp, to switch it on. The wire you need to splice into on the back of the headunit is usually blue/white.

If theres no pre-out on the headunit, you can wire a RCA connection off the rear speaker wires.

yep ive got the remote wire connected to the blue and white one and its powering the sub on and off with the HU.

Its just i have 6 wires on the HU, Front/l, Front/R, Rear/l, Rear/R, Centre & Subwoofer. However i only have two RCA wires and so dont know which to plug them into?

Hi...

ok we have a single brown phono socket for sub out, one connector for a sub is common as it's only a mono signal.

I assume from your description your sub is a active enclosure (power and rca leads) so it should be a simple case of bridging the rca's to receive a mono signal, to test this theroy, plug the red and white rcas into the sub, and then either the red or white into the brown sub out on the head unit, if there is a noise we're half way there.

assuming there is a noise, you will need a y lead for your rca so you can connect () then you will be able to connect both left and right channels from your rca's into the mono pre-out of the head unit.

Ok, iv tried everything that you have all said and nothing seems to work.

Even when i plug one RCA lead into the HU the sub doesnt make a noise.

Any clues?

is there a light on the sub? does it show signs of life? you should be able to touch the rcas together and get interference through the sub.

are the gains on the sub adjusted? they should be half way up to start with.

Im glad some one read the first post correctly (well done LiDL) and sound advise.
Also have a look through the HU's menu and see if there is a SUB setting and make sure that is turned on and turned up (half). At least you have power.

when testing amps, speakers, subs before setting up, turn the headunit DOWN to start with and slowly turn it up or you could blow something if the gains are wrong.

just a thought!

Maca

Thanks for all your help guys. LIDL your a genius! Lol turns out i needed the splitter to put both RCAs through the brown phono socket, still didnt work after that so i fiddled with the gains and voila....

Thanks again :thumbup
