Hey hey,

Few issues regarding my drivers side power window:
The passenger side window is working, but the switch on the drivers side is not illuminated, but the drivers window switch is illuminated but the window will not open...
Not even a click.
Is this likely to be a new motor job or just some electrical/wiring issue?
Any help appreciated.
Ash

By the sounds of it its probably the switch.
If its the motor then you can get them new off ebay for about £25.

You could do it yourself in 30 minutes, as for getting a garage to do it probably around £45.

Heyhey

Yeah never got the chance to whip the door card off, but i did remember what the previous owner said to me about having to give the door a whack if i want the window to open, so i did and lo and behold, the window opened so no motor issues just a new switch i reckon :thumbup

I've got exactly the same problem with my drivers window....

When I press the switch it doesn't do anything although after having it pressed it makes a quiet click but does nothing.

When I take the door card off is it a simple change to do the motor? As for the switches do they just pop out...?

If it clicks (assuming you don't mean the noise of the switch clicking) then the relay is engaging. Which means the fault is with the motor or the actuator

Common problem is the wires fraying and jamming the mechanism. But it's easy enough to get the door cards off. There used to be a DIY on here but don't know if it still is around on the new site

The switch should just pop out of its hole in the door. I used a screwdriver and rag. Wasn't too difficult

Cheers guys, soon as this weather picks up I'll whip the door cards off. Sounds like it is the actuator/motor from what you say Joff.

Great! :(

If I can't hear a 'click' when I'm trying the switch, and it's not the switch thats the problem, am I right in guessing that it would be either the relay (whatever that is) or the actuator (uh?!) ? I know for a fact the window does move, albeit slowly, so I'm guessing it has to be either the actuator or the relay...
Any help appreciated
