Right, I've got a Richbrooke anti-theft Ariel fitted to my gen 3. the reception is terrible. I don't even get radio 1, in areas with good reception!!! Is there anyway I can get better signal (I've tried signal boosters already) or is it just a case of going back to the remote control car looking Ariel?

If so, id consider fitting an electric Ariel. are these easy to get hold of, and if so, can I power it by plugging it into the remote wire on my amps in the boot?

If you are after an electric aerial people on this site have been buying a universal one from maplins, which i believe is about £25 and goes up when the stereo radio is turned on and down when it goes off.

They are very good quality and you get almost as much reception as the fishing rod antennae, i'd say 80%. If you get the antennae off paul, ask for recorded international delivery, it will cost a few £ more but you get the assurance that it doesn't get lost anywhere (post office lost two of mine before and paul had to send two more out of his own pocket).

As for getting an electric antennae, you will have to have a live cable run from somewhere like the wiring harness on the back of your CD player, there is also a "antennae" cable which goes to the cd player anyway, this tells the antennae to go up or down depending on if you have the key in the ignition or not. the other cable from the antennae is the ground which you just attach to the car body (like a screw head somewhere near).

Personally, i don't like the electric antennae as the coupes original is stupid and tall but black, the electric one will be just as tall and be silver and will stand out a lot. Makes the coupe look older than it is imo.
But each to their own.

yeah electric aerials were cool on the 96 Primera we had back in the day!get the shorty one!i have the ark racing one from PC that i got bout 2years ago and i dont noticethat much difference in reception
