The CC on my old Ford Probe was a bit tempremental and took some time to set but my Gen3.5 has ALWAYS worked every time.

Make sure your feet are off ALL the pedals when settings the CC. Even a momentary touch of the clutch or accelerator will cancel the CC.

Personally i get the car up to speed and then lift off the gas, wait a second and then set it. I then use the CC lever to fine tune the CC speed by tapping it up which adds 1 mph each time.

Does anyone wait a while before attempting to set it or do you just click it on then "set"?

I must be doing something right.

Spoke to local Hyundai this morning and asked for guy to come for a spin sometime next week so he can give me a couple of pointers.

Here's how the Gen3 cruise control works (same as 3.5 & SIII)

Accellerate to desired speed
Press button and cruise shows on dashboard
Make sure you aren't touching the clutch or brake
Push the stalk in Set direction then leave go of stalk
Take foot off accellerator
Enjoy cruise control.

As soon as you touch the brake or clutch the cruise stops, and this happens with even the lightest of touches. Hitting the accellerator will make the car accellerate, and when you take your foot off the car will return to the speed you initially set.

I have in my head that it could be a faulty switch, Hyundai said that i would probaly have to pay for this myself as they had it working...
