Hi bought an R reg hyundai se this week bought it cheap due to the abs light on. i have been fixing cars for years so thought it not to be a big problem.
after stumbling on this forum and joining i found a link to the "short pin 15 to earth and count the flashes trick"

ok, so i first tried disconecting the battery and pressing the brake to reset the ecu. the abs light is always still on.
i then tried the short pin 15 trick and nothing, now i have the airbag light on too, this flashes as it is supposed to then stays on.

have i messed up something and made it worse?
i have a code scanner tool it fits the plug but wont connect to the car so i assume its different protocol.
what are my options

thanks for the replies. found out what the abs fault was . after welding my exhaust yesterday i had a look at the front abs gear.
the drivers side abs sensor was touching the reluctor ring. this i thought was strange as the sensor is a preset gap and cannot change. i then noticed the ring had corrosion underneath and expanded the ring. i snapped the ring off and the abs light now goes off when stationary meaning the sensor still works.
the shaft is clicking badly so a new shaft and new ring is soon on its way.
wheres the cheapest to buy a cv joint on the net?

My ABS light remains on too...i've been Hyundai garage and various other garages and brakes are absolutely fine. I've been informed its due to the ABS Sensor which needs replacing, my friends BMW had same issue and after replacing solved it. I'm sure it applies to all cars.
