OK I got the Gen 1 leather wheel and matching air bag all wired up to my Gen 2.

As mentioned in the previous thread I set the air bag light off due to not disconnecting the battery when I changed the original plastic steering wheel.

So the original clock spring was used and the wires were soldered together etc.

My mate along the road owns a garage and he has one of these Bosch diagnostic tablet type affairs - this was hooked up to the car and it read the error codes. The first one was something about low battery power I think and the second one was for resistance too low on driver side air bag.

The first code was cleared by the Bosch equipment but the resistance code could not be cleared - my mate thinks it might just be a case of soldering in a to the air bag wiring?

Any ideas guys? :confused

You probably had the codes: B1112 and B1347.

The battery one (B1112) always comes on if the vehicle is left with the ignition on, or jump started and wont usually put the light on. The low resistance one (B1347) can be set for a number of reasons. There is a shorting bar built into the pyrotechnic inflator to prevent accidental deployment and this consists of a brass coloured ring of metal around the yellow plastic connector housing. When the bag is disconnected this shorting bar contacts the two pins and dead shorts them. If your connector isn't in properly the shorting bar could still be engaged. Another possibility is shorting inside the clock spring, or you've soldered the wires the wrong way round (White wire is high side current and Green wire is low side current). The resistance of the airbag itself is fixed and used by the SRSCM to determine this type of fault and your fault would hint at something touching somewhere.
