brightness laws coming into this at all?

there aren't any, not for the sidelights at least. they are bright but not dazzling oncoming drivers bright. if you check my garage pic you can see those bulbs with my hid kit on. Its an odd angle but you can see they are white.

I found the correct bulb lying around in my drawer (the shop had sold me the wrong bulb the first time around with my last car) and that worked a treat... after dismantling everything and getting the headlight unit out!

Thanks for the advice. I'll probably get all the bulbs replaced with LEDs next time she goes for a service so I don't have to mess around taking things apart again!
