take it to the dealer and ask them to take a look, it sounds like its the body control unit. Same thing that was faulty on mine. They paid for it all cost them £550 to do .

But they wouldnt pay for it on a 1998 model.... would they??

Thanks Matthew, that all sounds like good information. I hadn't noticed that the other items were not working at the time. Just the central locking, alarm and intermitent wipe. However it's quite possible they were,nt working either.

The funny thing is everything is working again now. The problems started the morning after very heavy rain. So over the weekend I will first check inside the door panels to see if damp has got into something. I will check what you have said too.
