I've fitted two x UV LEDs into each interior door handle recess, must say I like the effect.
Now I am thinking of fitting LEDs to the exterior door handles as well so they light up when the car is unlocked or the doors are opened (like on BMWs). Anyone done this at all?

They're pretty cool.

It would look good if you could wire them so they come on when you unlock the car and fade out when you get in and close the door.

Someone who's handy with alarms might be able to tell you where to tap into to get the right effect.

Heres and example of what I want to achieve.

I suppose you could wire it to the side repeaters so it flash's, but if you looked into a bit more, you could set up a circuit so soon as the indicator flash's from the alarm it lights the handle lights for 15 seconds say...

Could be a pain in the ass to get to work perfect, but if you can remember your secondary school electronics lessons then your 1/2 way there!

My Interiors come on when the door is unlocked by the alarm so am intending to wire into that.
Got a handle off dupleman so will be experimenting soon.
Main problem is going to be stopping the wires snagging I think.

Hmmmm wanted to do this on my old Puma. Most central locking systems have a trigger wire that comes live while it operates the motors if Im not mistaken. I was asking my mate at work who is a whizz at work and he says you'd need a small circuit with a capacitor that would provide power for a shirt while to keep the lights (preferably LEDs ) going. I will find out more and let you guys know what I find out...

They look damn cool though - the neighbour has got a new 1-Series (yuck!) but it's got the LED handles. It's cool.

if its a gen 3 that your on about you could try to link it to the green light aroung the ignition that comes on when the car is unlocked the goes off when you turn on the ignition.
