Ok I parked up today and pulled the handbrake up it made a noise and went dead slack and doeant work nightmareee :(

I don't think its snapped because when its pulled right up it works just a tiny little bit I can tell because I tryed too push it and you can feel it has a little grip and when I push it it squeeks

Can anyone help please is there a way to tighten it up or it sounds like its snapped?

Thanks alit

If it has snapped then it should have made a loud bang. The handbrake has two cables that go through a block and into a single cable just behind the handbrake. If it has snapped then the block will be pulled by one side only; stopping it from working on the opposite side to the snapped cable as the block rotates

Probably makes no sense, it's hard to describe without pictures. Under the centre arm rest is a panel that comes out allowing you to see the block and adjust the handbrake. If it rotates as the handbrake is pulled then one cable has snapped

I had this a week ago, one of the two will have snapped, which is why it works slightly when pulled to the top

When i took my old ones out (did both, if one had gone the other was likely to go soon) I sheared 3 of the 7 bolts. Wasn't a happy bunny drilling that lot out...

Yeah, I got sharky to do both, as they are prone to failing. He used some aftermarket cables which were cheaper than genuine hyundai ones and apparantly better quality!

I took mine to a local garage when one snapped, they replaced both cables (pointless replacing just one and risk the other old one going too) for £140ish all in.

You don't need to buy in special cables, they will source them for you.

Cables cost about £30 each, need to take the centre console out and if bolts shear it'll take a whole lot longer

:yeahthat - same as mine, I pulled the adjustment in until I could source some cables - never actually got around to getting it done, seemed to hold ok on the one side. I always left it in gear when parking anyways...
