Hi all, just a quick question.
On my 2002 coupe I have a knocking noise which sounds like its coming from the rear left side of the car, this noise is related to the speed you are going ( faster speed = faster knocking, ect )

I fully inflated my tires and it seemed to reduce in volume but am not entirely certain what it could be. I have checked the wheel for any stuck dirt / snow which could be knocking / rubbing but could not find anything obvoius.

Any suggestions ?

Check your wheel nuts!

If they are OK, could be the wheel bearing, I 'spose - thats more usually a whining or thrumming noise though, kinda like a washing machine on fast spin. Jack the car up and grip the wheel at 9 and 3 o'clock and try to twist it, then do the same at 12 and 6 o'clock positions, there should be very little perceptible movement.

Other than that, check for rubbing brake pads (hot alloys after a run), the current inclement weather plays merry hell with rear disk brake systems - might need a strip and clean...

A good place to check is the top of the struts, the nuts like to come loose after a few years.

Is your boot held closed tightly enough on both sides. There is two adjustable rubber bits that push the boot up against the locking mechanism
