Hi guys, my son in laws Hyundai Coupe 2003 V6, and the handbrake freezes on every time we have frezzing temps, he has had it back to his local Hyundai dealer and they can find no fault,

Any of you guys come across this I wonder.

Yep, its a common fault (they don't have freezing temps in Korea) its the spring near the rear centre (underneath) of the car that freezes. needs hitting with a hammer to loosen it up. When the warmer weather comes it needs to be packed with grease to keep out the moisture. I'm just leaving the handbrake off at the moment and leaving it in gear ;)

same just make sure it's left in gear and don;t bother with the handbrake. mine doesn't even need freezin temps to stick it just does it anyway lol

there you go - thats how to free it.

In terms of prevention, the best thing to do it get it up on ramps or jack or whatever when it gets warmer, clean out with good blast of WD-40, then pack it with grease
