Hi everyone, I've had a problem with wheel bolts breaking first time it happened the fella told me they must have the tightened to much(one gone now running on 4), he told me all is ok till I get it fixed safe to drive. A week later I had to got back to hm as I had a shake in the steering and when he took the wheels off another 2 bolts where broken(now running on 2 nuts) the fella said that hyundai bolts are always breaking is this a fact. Anyway the only place I could get bolts was the closets hyundai garage that was 40 miles away(sh**ting myself I was) got to the garage and got royally fleeced, 45euro for 3 new nuts and bolts. Then had to drive home on 2 nuts and pay another 25 euro to get the nuts replaced so all in all about 85 euro including petrol. Hope this isn't gonna be a recurring thing :rollin :rollin :rollin

Moved here ... Macker ;)

Well it sounds like you over-tightened them, and then while running on 4 (which is the worst advice I've heard in a long time) unbalances the wheel and puts extra strain on the other bolts. It's no wonder the others have snapped. Sounds like the fella you went to doesn't know anything.

Cheers for your comments. Thats pretty much what I was thinking myself what an ass wipe he is and thats at a proper garage like quick fit. I might bring it back to him and hope he breaks something else be a good excuse to slap the face off him. Raging :bang :bang

Unfortunately, quickfit aren't a proper garage :P they literally just employ people to "fit" things. Dont need to be a good mechanic for doing that ;)
Most of them you will find are too young to drive themselves, and know very little about cars. An independent or hyundai dealer are the only two good choices.

This happened to me about a month ago (see my post). I did take it to 2 garages and both said i was fine to drive on 3 nuts as the 2 broken were not next to each other and the other 3 kept it steady.

I got 2 replacement nuts from hyundai garage about 8 miles from home for £7.77 inc vat. Both of the mechanics said that my nuts had loosened because my alloys had just been refurbished so the nuts where cutting/rubbing against the new coat or something.
