Anyone know how easy the rear drum & wheel bearing are to get off a gen 2 1.6 need to check both shoes & bearing as iv'e developed some road noise from rear near side ?
and is there any exploded diags for this or is this the same as a accent ?

Actually its very easy So for anyone else here goes
chock front wheels & take hand brake off
jack up & remove wheel
remove brass coloured dust hub
use a small drift or punch to bend out the nut outer edge (crimped in to stop nut coming loose)
remove nut 22mm socket required
remove keyed washer
tap drum and jiggle from side to side until free making sure you leave brake shoes behind
bearing is fitted to hub looks to be a 2 part bearing ? inner & outer as one unit.
I placed the drum on the studs (where wheel attaches) and fill drum with a clean cloth
(YOU DONT WANT LUBRICANT ON THE INSIDE OF BRAKE DRUM) carefully spray bearings with dw40 and leave for 30 min to drip through on to floor
Then clean with clean cloth and refit hub and put grease in outside of spindle that hub fits on after hub is fitted replace keyed washer then nut tap out flange back into gap to secure nut fill void with grease and replace dust hub cover and replace wheel obviously

I did this to check bearings & drums if I though excessive play on bearings or Shoes were worn
I would have replaced them or ordered parts to fit at a later stage this was more of a recce first
but cleaning out the brake dust and cleaning & grasing the bearing have stopped the road noise for now so ? who knows[/b]
