Well, firstly DO IT :lol

Its fantastic and with front and rear struts - it sticks like poo to a blanket

definately invest in repalcement rear stablizer links - for less than £15 delivered off ebay theyre absolutely perfect and cost less than half the local motorfactors - they will be seized unless youre lucky and it makes it a hell of alot easier to just cut it off

dont worry (or try to get) the ends of the rear springs to sit nicely against the lip corner - because the spring wont sit flat

do it

Im really quite suprised also at the level of extra grip that i gained - and im sure that also there is a relativly long turning rack, steering is definately sharper.

I was experiencing quite a lot of understeer, but now it just keeps giving and giving - but had the back out a step on a corner (stupid me braked on a downhill corner  never do that again!)

when you think think that front and rear stut bars cost about what, £100ish, and these all in cost about £100 more - ok so its more cash but i think the difference is more than twice the spring improvement.

Ride quality is fine, no problems there either - and of course it looks cooler ;)

if you have a set of spanners, and can hold them then do it :lol

The backs are easier, due to not having the mcphearson etc - but even then, its not too hard.

I followed a DIY from RDtiburon - i bet theres one on newtib too - best thing to do is read that, a few times - then go for it.

To be honest though its an easy job - parts need an extra hand to push the front disk down a bit to get the strut back in, but basically it is:

Undo top mounts (where strut bar goes)

Undo 2 bolts securing in strut

Remove the sensors that are bolted to the strut (well the wiring)

pull out

Compress old springs, undo main lcoking nut, old springs out new in

Do up

Put back together

Thgats a very rough description, but its not that hard... just allow a weekend and a few beers incase ;)

People who have had this done - have you had any problems since getting it lowered? Like with speed bumps or messed up roads?

I ask because the bottom of mine has scrapped on some roads even at its normal height & we've got soome ridiculously big speed bumps around Sheffield, particularly near one of my best mates. I think this could be avoided with slower/more careful driving but im not certain.

Im torn between some 17" alloys & these springs or 18" alloys & leaving it at its current height. I'd prefer the 17's & lowering springs for the look & improved handling but im just worried about it.

What would you recommend?

:lol Well, thats a pretty clear cut answer, cheers.

I'll just have to be more careful if I do get them. Are they easy to fit yourself or will I need to get a garage to do them?

You can do it yourself, but you have to make sure you have all the right tools.

Spanners
spring compressors (the blackspur ones have lasted me for 3 cars and counting)
socket set (to wind the spring compressor more easily, or an airtool which really is much easier than that)
Breaker bar (just incase there are any stuck on nuts, very useful things)

anyone got RX8 alloys on (18s) and got Eibach Pro lowering springs on? Just curious if this can cause any problems?
