I have to pull the handbrake to the highest point on my Gen3. Is this normal for the SE as i remeber on the 1.6 it went just over the half way mark.

Even on the slightest hills i park on i feel as if my handbrake will not hold if i try to pull it just below the highest point as it makes a noise of struggle.

If required to fix this, will this cost alot? Possible to DIY?

open the compartment lid behind the handbrake (mines stores my mp3 cds), lift out the bottom cover. The cover might need some persuasion to get it out but it wont be glued/fixed in.

Now. once youve done that you can look down into the hole and you will see 2 cables going towards the back of your car and bracket which leads to the cable that goes to your handbrake leaver.
The bracket has got a nut on it, just turn the nut using a spanner to tighten up the cable (make sure you release your handbrake leaver first so you can adjust it properly.

The recommended number of clicks which your handbrake leaver should do is 6-8, so when youve adjusted it just pull the lever up and count the clicks.
