Ok guys, A quick one.

Car was fine until this morning, then I got a noise coming from the back that sounded like a jet engine increasing in pitch with speed.

I remembered that on Saturday Night, last time I used the car, that I had my 2 17 stone mates in the back. Now I can only assume this has caused the failure (Obviously they must have been on the way out anyway)

So, firstly am I right to assume its the wheel bearings?

Where's the best place to buy them from? As I will change them myself.

Finally, is it best to replace them as a pair? Mines one of the first coupes (P reg) so I'm assuming its going to be best in the long run to do them both!

P.s wheres the DIY wheel bearing thing gone? Link reckons it dead on the old board!

They quoted me £45 including vat and delivery for a geniune Hyundai item, he did say it was for the ABS version only though. The website is just contact details but I emailed and got a responce within 24 hours.

if you are sure it's the wheel bearing they are not expensive to do and there is a DIY link on the old forums. but make sure that it's definately the bearings as it could be something else such as the suspension causing the wheel to rub on the arch. You only need to replace the one that has fialed if it is the wheel bearing.

Almost certain its got to be the wheel bearing, as suspension seems fine and I would assume a suspension problem would also show up going over rough terrain, speed bumps etc, which it doesn't.
